MightyLoc supplies adhesives and sealants qualified for bonding metal across most of the catalog, including anaerobic threadlockers (Taftlock), structural methacrylate (MightyLoc 9025), cyanoacrylate (Ninja 108), acrylic foam tape (AFT), polyurethane sealant (Taftflex), MS polymer (Taftgrip) and spray adhesive (Taftspray 78). For metal-to-metal structural bonds, MightyLoc 9025 is a two-part methacrylate formulated for mild steel, galvanized metal, stainless steel, aluminium and magnets, and can replace riveting or tack welding. For threaded metal fasteners, the Taftlock anaerobic range (22 low strength, 43 medium, 71 high) cures in the absence of air between close-fitting metal parts. Ninja 108 cyanoacrylate, AFT acrylic foam tapes, Taftflex polyurethane sealants, Taftgrip MS polymer and Taftspray 78 also list metal as a bonding substrate.
How to prepare a metal surface
For MightyLoc 9025, abrade all bonding surfaces then clean thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or acetone before bonding, and keep surfaces free of dust, dirt and grease. Do not use oil-based cleaners such as turpentine or paint thinners. For Taftlock threadlockers, surfaces should be dry, clean and free of any contamination, and the threadlocker is applied to the bolt in enough quantity to fill the threads.
Threaded assemblies and torque
The Taftlock anaerobic grades are colour-coded by strength: Taftlock 22 is purple (low), Taftlock 43 is blue (medium) and Taftlock 71 is red (high). Taftlock 71 performs best in thin bond gaps and is formulated to give controlled friction during assembly. Pick the grade by how easily the joint must come apart later.

The Taftlock anaerobic range locks threaded metal fasteners. Choose Taftlock 22 (low strength, purple) for adjustable parts, Taftlock 43 (medium, blue) for general assembly, or Taftlock 71 (high, red) for permanent high-strength locking.
