Bonding to plastic.
MightyLoc supplies adhesives and tapes for bonding many plastics, including cyanoacrylate (Ninja 108), UV adhesive (Krystal), structural methacrylate (MightyLoc 9025), acrylic foam tape (AFT), polyurethane sealant (Taftflex), MS polymer (Taftgrip) and spray adhesive (Taftspray 78). Low-surface-energy plastics such as polypropylene and polyethylene are excluded or need a primer.

Talk to our teamWhich MightyLoc products bond plastics
Ninja 108 cyanoacrylate is formulated for fast, high-strength bonding of plastics and rubbers and performs well across many plastic types. Krystal UV adhesives bond ABS, HIPS, PS, PC, PVC and acrylic. MightyLoc 9025, AFT acrylic foam tapes, Taftflex sealants, Taftgrip and Taftspray 78 also list plastics among their substrates.
How to prepare a plastic surface
Ensure parts are clean, dry and free from oil and grease. For Taftgrip and similar sealants, remove any external release agents left from plastic moulding, since these prevent adhesion. With clear or low-energy plastics, cyanoacrylate can craze or bond poorly, so confirm suitability on the product TDS and pre-test before production.
Plastics that are excluded
AFT acrylic foam tapes bond a wide range of plastics but not polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE) or nylon. With Ninja 108 and Taftgrip, low-surface-energy plastics such as polyethylene, polypropylene, PTFE and Teflon either need a primer or may not bond at all. Always test any plastic that is not named on the TDS.
FAQ · PLASTIC
Questions about bonding plastic.
Ninja 108 cyanoacrylate is formulated for high-speed, high-strength bonding of plastics and rubbers. Krystal UV adhesives bond ABS, HIPS, PS, PC, PVC and acrylic, and MightyLoc 9025, AFT tapes, Taftflex, Taftgrip and Taftspray 78 also list plastics as substrates.
AFT acrylic foam tapes specifically exclude polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE) and nylon. With cyanoacrylate and MS polymer products these low-surface-energy plastics need a primer or may not bond, so pre-test and check the product TDS.
Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of oil and grease, and remove any mould release agents left from manufacturing. For clear or low-energy plastics, confirm the chemistry is suitable on the product TDS and run a trial bond first.
