Taftlock 22 is formulated for fasteners up to 6 mm in diameter, making it the right Taftlock grade for small screws, set screws and fine adjusters. For threads between 6 and 20 mm choose medium-strength Taftlock 43, and for fasteners up to 25 mm choose high-strength Taftlock 71.
Taftlock 22 reaches handling strength in about 20 minutes on clean steel at room temperature, develops functional strength in 1 to 3 hours, and reaches full cure in 24 hours. Cure depends on metal type, gap and temperature, so leave the assembly undisturbed until functional strength is reached before returning it to service.
Taftlock 22 has a service temperature range of -55 C to +150 C, so it holds on engine, automotive and electronic assemblies that see both cold starts and sustained heat. Chemical-resistance testing shows it retains full strength in motor oil at 125 C and in brake fluid over 1,000 hours, with high retention in water/glycol.
Taftlock 22 has a shelf life of 2 years when stored unopened in a cool, dry place between 8 C and 25 C. Do not return unused material to the original container, since contamination can affect cure. Wipe the bottle tip clean after each use to keep the nozzle clear.
